Promoted primarily as a half marathon relay event that also includes a
13.1-mile race for individual runners rather than the other way around,
as is the case with most other running events, the Carrabba's Classic
Half Marathon Relay, Individual Run & Nature Walk takes place
at a time of the year when it's wise to consider splitting up the miles
with three of your best friends -- as summer is turning hot and
the weather is beginning to bring some of the city's peak temperatures
of the year.
The race takes place in McAllister Park, whose 856 acres are home to
more than 25 miles of biking, hiking, walking and running trails, and
are part of what makes McAllister perhaps the city's most popular urban
park. The course takes runners on an out-and-back loop along the trails
entirely within the park itself, some of which are paved and others
natural surface trails, and feature a mix of hills, flat stretches and
some runs through wooded areas as well as wide-open spaces.
To take advantage of what are likely to be the day's coolest
conditions, runners will start the half-marathon at 8:00 AM, followed
by an 8:30 AM start for those taking part in the event's nature walk,
which will feature a tour of the wildlife and scenery along the
McAllister Park trails that's expected to last roughly 40 minutes.
Organized by the San Antonio Road Runners, the event will also feature
lunch following the race, prepared by Carrabba's Italian Grill, for the
first 1,000 entrants.

Weather & Climate
There's no avoiding the fact that in June, San Antonio can see some
seriously hot conditions, though rainfall is also near its peak for the
year during the month (May brings the highest average rainfall). In
June, the city's average monthly temperatures range between
91°F and 72°F, while rainfall totals average about 4.3
inches for the month.
