Texas > Honored Hero Run Half Marathon, 20-Mile, 10K, 5K & 1K
Fort Worth, TX  •  Sunday, October 20, 2013  •  Course Map

Designed as a fundraiser for both the local chapter and the national organization of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team in Training endurance sports training program, Fort Worth's Honored Hero Run features five race distances for its annual fall running, including a half marathon, 20-mile run, 10K, 5K and a one-kilometer fun run.

The half marathon, like the event's other races, is limited to 250 entrants and features an out-and-back course that starts and finishes at the Trinity Park Shelter House on West 7th Street. From there, the course takes runners on a meandering route along the Trinity Trail, a paved 30-mile trail that follows a north-south route along the canal between the intersection of Samuels & Northside Drive and Foster Park, which lies just north of Interstate 20.

Known as a popular trail for locals to take in biking, running, walking, jogging and roller blading, the trail's paved paths offer a flat, fast surface for the race with little to no uphill or downhill stretches. Off in the distance, runners will be able to see the Fort Worth skyline, and will pass through tree-lined local parks and greenspace areas as they make their way out and back to Trinity Park for the finish.

Race Weather & Climate

Located just west of Dallas, the city of Fort Worth typically experiences much milder weather conditions in the fall than in its often very hot summer seasons, as October temperatures average between 55°F and 79°F, while rainfall totals average just over 4 inches, making October its second-wettest month of the year.

On the day of the race (Oct. 20), the average low is 53°F and the average high is 78°F.
