Texas > Texas MedClinic Half Marathon
& 5K Run/Walk
San Antonio,
TX
Date
Saturday, October 10, 2009
Event
Details
A unique race that takes runners along the banks of Leon Creek in the
northwestern section of San Antonio, the Texas MedClinic Half Marathon
& 5K takes the place of The Missions Half Marathon, which had
been run on this date along the national park areas inside the city
known as "the Missions," for the group of historic Spanish missions now
known as the Mission Trail through San Antonio.
Designed as a tune-up training run for the Rock
& Roll San Antonio Marathon & Half Marathon
just a month later, the out-and-back course for the race starts and
finishes at Leon Creek Greenway located at 8030 Bandera Rd. This is a
new linear park and the race will start behind the Walmart and finish
in the same location. The race will enter the Leon Creek Greenway and
exit out on Rochelle Rd. Then the course will snake through this
beautiful sub-division and re-enter the paved trail system.
The runners
will continue to the end of this very scenic creek, this section is an
out and back which will give many of the runners a view of the top
runners as they race back to the start /finish line. Out and back races
are a favorite because you can gauge your progress with others in your
age group.
The starting time for the race is 8:00 AM, and both music and food will
be provided at the post-race awards ceremony and celebration at Mission
County Park. Early registration results in savings of $20 or more
for registration, so be sure to sign up early.
