Details
With its end of August date, the Park City Marathon and Half Marathon
allows runners to experience the beautiful late summer scenery and cool
mountain weather of this trendy Utah ski town located just 30 miles
east of Salt Lake City.
Beginning at 6:45 a.m., just 15 minutes after the full marathon takes
off, the Park City Half is an out-and-back race that follows the last
six miles of the marathon course. The race begins at the Newpark area
at Kimball Junction and follows paved and smooth gravel bike paths
adjacent to the pristine wetlands of the Swaner Nature Preserve.
After passing through a tunnel, the course goes by the historic McPolin
barn, depicted in the race logo, and then continues through quiet
residential areas to the turnaround point near Rotary Park. Starting at
an elevation of 6400 ft., the course climbs 400 feet to the turnaround
point, making it an ideal race for a negative split time.
