Utah > Provo City Half Marathon, Relay & 5K
Provo, UT

Event Details

Sandwiched between the majestic mountain peaks and ski resorts to the west and the crystal waters of Utah Lake and Provo Bay to the immediate east, this Utah Valley city plays host in the spring to the Provo City Half Marathon, Relay & 5K, which takes runners on a tour of both the area's urban and natural sights and attractions. Like its late summer counterpart, the Provo River Trail Half Marathon, this race event takes runners along some of the same trails, offering both a fun and challenging course, organizers say.

This out-and-back race starts and finishes at Tabernacle Park in downtown Provo, located just seven blocks south of Brigham Young University. Along the 13.1-mile USATF (U.S.A. Track and Field) certified course, runners will pass sights including BYU and will run along portions of the Provo River Trail, famous for its blue ribbon trout fisheries that offer anglers from the city a chance to enjoy one of the state's premier fishing destinations that's just 15 minutes away.

The course is considered an excellent early-season preparation run for the state's number of marathon and half-marathon events later in the year, organizers add, as well as an opportunity to run amongst some its most beautiful scenery.

The course, like the city as a whole, lies within the shadow of Mount Timpanagos, Cascade Mountain and Provo and Freedom Peaks, well known for their hiking and camping and made famous (or infamous, rather) as the onetime hideout of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.

Race Weather & Climate

Known for its warm summers with temperatures in the 70s and its cold winter seasons, Provo in the springtime typically sees mild to cool weather conditions. May temperatures average between 74°F and 47°F, while rainfall totals average just over 2 inches for the month.
