Details
The majestic beauty of Utah's Wasatch Mountain range is on full display
throughout the winding, hilly course at the annual running of the Salt
Lake Half Marathon & Relay, which draws nearly 400 runners each
year for a point-to-point race that starts at Mountain Dell Golf Course
in the
mountains east of downtown and finishes at the Marriott University Park
Hotel on the edge of the city.
From the starting line on the frontage road near the golf course,
runners follow the roadways into East Canyon and then into Emigration
Canyon, making their way through Mountain Dell Canyon, Little Tree Hill
and Rattlesnake Point on their way toward the finish line. The race
features paved surfaces throughout, and features its biggest hill
between the start and Little Mountain; after this stretch, the course
follows a long, slow descent through the Salt Lake Valley to the finish.
Runners who wish to make the run but don't feel up to running the full
13.1 miles are invited to participate in the half marathon relay, which
is open to men's, women's and mixed teams of three runners each.
