Event Details

Sponsored by the local Shelburne Athletic Club, which hosts a active slate of 14 races throughout the year in this small Vermont town just south of Burlington, the Field House Half Marathon takes runners on a figure-eight-style course that boasts some of the region’s most beautiful scenic views.

The race welcomes about 200 participants every year, and features of mix of both paved and hard-packed dirt trails, making it something of a combination road/trail race event.

Along the 13.1-mile course, which begins at the area known as the “Field House” in Shelburne, runners are treated to sights including Lake Champlain, Shelburne Falls, the Shelburne Bay and Shelburne Farms, a 1,400-acre working farm and national historic landmark that doubles as an environmental preservation education center.

The race is open to both individual runners and relay teams, which are comprised of 2 people. The course features plenty of rolling hills but no dramatic changes in elevation, and the race (for both individuals and relay team runners) starts at 8:00 AM.

Race Weather & Climate

The month of November brings cold, crisp weather to the Shelburne area, which lies next to the coast of Lake Champlain in mountainous northwestern Vermont. Area temperatures during the month average between 30°F and 44°F, while precipitation averages just over 3 inches – which usually means snowfall.
