Details
The year 2009 will bring the seventh annual running of the
Charlottesville
Marathon & Half Marathon, which starts near downtown and takes
runners on a tour of the area's historic neighborhoods, farms and
sights. Along the mostly paved, out-and-back course, participants get
an up-close view of places like Thomas Jefferson's Rotunda at the
University of Virginia and the scenic Albemarle County wine and horse
country. Race participants will get a break from the paved surface
along Ridge Road, which offers a soft-pack surface, and rolling hills
throughout the course.
