Virginia > East Beach Norfolk Half Marathon & 5K
Norfolk, VA
Date
Saturday, February 27, 2010
Event
Details
More than 600 runners came out to take part in the winter 2008 running
of Virginia's East Beach Norfolk Half Marathon & 5K, which
takes runners on a course along the waterfront on East Beach Drive
through this coastal city's downtown areas, along an out-and-back
course through the city that's open to both runners and walkers.
After being cancelled in 2009, the race is being run again in 2010.
Mostly flat and fast thanks to its route near the water, the race also
features brief stretches at the start and the finish of the race
through some of the scenic neighborhoods near the East Beach Club House
near Norfolk's Little Creek Cove.
The event also includes a 5K run/walk and a children's half-mile race
and features a starting time of 8:00 AM. Organizers keep the course
open for three hours, and anyone still on the course after that time is
asked to complete their run on the sidewalk.
