Event Details

A brand-new half marathon for 2007, the Patrick Henry Half Marathon takes the scheduled place of the Battlefield Half Marathon, which had been run in past years on this weekend in Varina, Va. The new Patrick Henry Half will take advantage of Hanover County's rolling county roads, just outside Ashland, with the start and finish at Poor Farm Park.

Perhaps known best as the home of Randolph-Macon College, Ashland is a town of about 6,000, and runners will enjoy the town's sights including a wealth of large Victorian homes, quaint residential neighborhoods and plentiful parks and trails.

Race Weather & Climate

Summer weather can be hot and humid in this northern Virginia town just to the north of the state's capital city of Richmond, with August temperatures that usually reach the 80s for weeks on end in late summer. Rainfall is a possibility, as the area sees an average of nearly 4 inches of rain during the month.
