Event Details

Open to both runners and walkers, this year's Bellingham Bay Marathon, Half-Marathon & 5K promises to be a beautifully scenic race along the city's waterfront, as the event takes participants on an out-and-back loop course southward from the Hotel Bellwether along the shores of the Bay, and back again to the hotel for the finish. Starting around sea level and flat for the first three miles, the race becomes hilly around miles 4 and 5, reaching its highest point at around 200 feet above sea level between miles 8 and 9.

Run mostly along paved surfaces, the race also takes runners along city running and walking trails and features views of the nearby San Juan Islands and Mount Baker. Outdoor activity is a favorite pastime for residents across the city, whose natural beauty and topography accommodates running, hiking, paddling, canoeing, and cycling in all seasons.
