Washington > Colbert Autumn Classic Half Marathon
Colbert, WA • Saturday, October 5, 2013 • Course Map
Two hundred runners crossed the finish line in both divisions combined at the early fall 2012 running of the Colbert Autumn Classic Half Marathon, which has become a running tradition here in this small town just north of Spokane.
Hosted by the Bloomsday Road Runners Club of nearby Spokane, the race hosts two divisions -- the regular division, which features a starting time of 8:00 AM, and a Clydesdale/Athena division for men over 200 pounds and women over 145 pounds, which features an early start of 7:30 AM. Both follow the same out-and-back course for the race that starts and finishes at Colbert Elementary School on East Greenbluff Road.
From there, runners head out on a route that makes a clockwise loop along the rural country roads just north of Colbert, where runners can expect to encounter both paved roads and gravel roads, and some hilly stretches in the second half of the race, near the community of Green Bluff. Between the mile 6 and the mile 8 markers, the course climbs some 450 feet as runners along North Dunn Road; there's an equally big downhill between miles 10 and 12 along Greenbluff Road.
