Event
Details
Among the most scenic road races anywhere in Washington State, the Lake
Chelan Shore to Shore Marathon, Half Marathon & 10K takes
runners on a point-to-point course along the shores of gorgeous Lake
Chelan, situated just to the west of the town of Chelan and southeast
of North Cascades National Park, in the shadow of the Cascade Mountain
range. The half marathon race in this USATF-certified event begins on
the southern side of the lake at South Shore Boulevard, from which
participants run southeastward toward Chelan and then make the turn
back toward the northwest along the shoreline to the finish in the
downtown area of the nearby town of Manson.
The course for the half-marathon is mostly flat for the first five
miles of the races, with a few small rolling uphills and downhills. The
biggest change in elevation comes just after mile 5, when the course
rises about 160 feet in elevation for about two miles, and then drops
back down to the starting line elevation by mile 8. A few additional
hills lie between mile 8 and the finish.
