Event
Details
Run in part to support the local chapter of the American Cancer
Society's Relay for Life race, the Over The Dam Run includes a half
marathon, 10K and 5K road races, all of which start and finish at Grand
Coulee's Mason City Park at 8:30 AM. Race day registration is available
but must be completed by 8:00 AM. The race course is mostly fast and
flat for each of the three races, and takes runners on an out-and-back
course along the shoreline of Rufus Woods Lake, and across the majestic
Grand Coulee Dam, the largest structure of its kind in the United
States.
Among the country's smaller road running race events (the Over the Dam
Half Marathon drew 78 participants for the 2007 running of the race),
the event welcomes just over 300 runners each year for its three races
combined. Race check-in and packet/bib number pickup take place at the
city's Colorama Festival on Saturday, May 12 from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM
and on the day of the race at Mason City Park from 6:30 to 8:00 AM.
