Event Details

Just over 190 runners and walkers crossed the finish line in the spring 2009 running of Everson's Run For The Honeywagon Half Marathon, 4-Mile Run/Walk and Half-Mile Kids Run, which takes participants on a largely fast and flat course along paved country roads through this rural Washington town's farmland areas, located just a few miles from the Canadian border with the province of British Columbia. Organized by the Greater Bellingham Running Club, the race offers a smaller, more intimate-sized field, as just under 80 runners competed in the half marathon in 2009.

From the starting line at the Nooksack Valley Middle School on Everson's Main Street, runners follow an out-and-back loop course that offers a few turns in the first couple of miles of the race, as runners head out along Main Street and then turn onto Second Street, Harrison Street and then again onto Nooksack Avenue for a stretch that takes them northward toward Tom Road. There the course turns left, and runners head along Tom to Van Buren Road, which begins the stretch of the race that takes them out of the town and into the wide-open farm fields just outside Everson.

Runners hit the middle stretch of the race once they turn from Van Buren onto Lindsay Road and then again onto Trap Line Road, as the course alternates between tree-lined stretches of road and open country fields. The course follows roughly the next two miles along Hampton Road, then turns south onto Slotemaker and then again onto Stickney Island Road, which runners remain on for the next two and half miles as the course zig-zags its way through a few twists and turns.

Once the field hits Tarp Line Road for a second time, the course begins a roughly mile-long north and then south route, up along Tarp Line, east across Hampton and then south along Van Buren, turning for the final time onto Main Street for the home stretch of the race back toward the finish line at the school. Those running the four-mile and half marathon runs will start their races at 10:00 AM, and runners are advised that the aid stations along the course will start closing by 12:30 PM.
