Event Details

Run on a course that takes participants along the streets and among the lakes, parks and riverbanks of this city nestled within Wisconsin's Chippewa River valley, the Eau Claire Marathon, Half Marathon & 2-Mile Fun Run features an out-and-back loop course through the city that starts and finishes in Eau Claire's Carson Park, a 134-acre city park located on the peninsula that juts out into Half Moon Lake near the city's downtown neighborhoods.

From the starting line inside the park, runners follow the course as its fans out through the city, across the West Grand Avenue bridge and along 5th Avenue, Bellinger Street and 1st Street, all within sight of the banks of the Chippewa River as runners follow the mile markers of the course toward the big bridge crossing, where Interstate 94 crosses over the river into the city's eastern half. Once over the river, runners then follow the course as the circular loop heads southward, along Riverview Drive, Redwood Drive and Western Avenue all the way south down to Galloway Street, where runners then follow the course as it winds along the clearer Eau Claire River.

The course makes its way along the trails along the river, taking runners across four more bridge crossings -- off Galloway Street, across Dewey Street and across Grand Avenue -- before heading south into the neighborhoods that precede the Putnam Drive section of the course, perhaps one of its most scenic stretches as runners get to run along tree-lined waterside trails as they run alongside Putnam Creek. Once they make their way around Putnam, the course features one more bridge crossing at Garfield and 1st Avenue, after which runners head east along the riverbanks back toward the finish line inside Carson Park.

Runners follow paved surfaces throughout the race, as the course takes them across paved park trails and city streets for virtually the entire 13.1 miles of the race. Runners will start the race at 8:00 AM, and will run alongside participants in the full, 26.2-mile marathon, while those running in the 2-mile fun run will start their race at 8:30 AM.
