Wisconsin > Get it Dunn Run 5K & Half Marathon
Menomonie, WI  •  Saturday, May 18, 2013  •  Course Map

More than 370 runners crossed the finish line in both races combined at last spring's inaugural running of the Get it Dunn Run 5K & Half Marathon, which takes runners on a point-to-point course along the hills and along a stretch of the paved Stokke Trail that runs along the banks of the Red Cedar River here in western Wisconsin.

The race starts and finishes in the small town of Menonomie, Wis., home to just over 16,000 residents as well as the campus of the University of Wisconsin-Stout, which runners make a quick run through in the home stretch of the race on the way to the finish line on Wilson Avenue downtown. Runners will start the race just outside town on Dairyland Road, near the intersection with 22nd Street South -- the half marathon will start at 8:30 AM, while the 5K starts at 9:00 AM.

From there, runners make a sweeping, U-shaped loop along the rolling country roads just south of Menomonie -- south along County Road J, east along 410th Avenue and 430th Avenue, and then across the bridge that spans the Red Cedar River along 440th Avenue. Once they make it over the river -- and the hillier portions of the race, especially between mile markers 4 through 7 -- the race flattens out as the course puts runners onto the Stokke Trail, which runs along the river's western bank.

Runners follow the Stokke Trail all the way north along the river for the next four miles, heading through Devil's Punch Bowl County Park and Riverside Park on the way to the second bridge crossing, this time much closer to Menomonie at Broadway Street. Once they make the turn onto Broadway and cross the bridge, the race heads south into the University of Wisconsin-Stout campus, where runners will run past the university's iconic Bowman Hall clock tower, and then head east onto Wilson Avenue for the race finish just past the Mabel Tainter Theater.

Organizers plan to present age group awards to the top three finishers in each of the following categories: up to 20 years old, age 21 - 35, age 36 - 50, age 51 - 65, and age 66 and over. The race's presenting sponsor, the locally based health and wellness company Mind Over Matter Inc., will use proceeds from the race for its new Kathleen Fisher Memorial Scholarship and for care packages to be distributed to families and patients who are going through cancer diagnosis and treatment.
