Event Details

Known around the region as a popular vacation area for hiking, fishing, canoeing and golfing in warm weather and snowmobiling and skiing in the winter, this small Wisconsin town welcomes several hundred runners, walkers and wheelchair participants each year for the Journeys Marathon, Half Marathon, 13.1-Mile Power Walk & 5K, which takes the field along a gorgeous and challenging point-to-point course along rolling country roads through the Northwoods region's lakes and forests.

From the starting line near the intersection of County Road K and East Bucktabon Lakes Road in the town of Conover, just a short drive north from Eagle River, the half-marathon course starts and follows a mostly southward route among the area lakes between the two towns, passing within sight of the shores of lakes including Lower Bucktabon Lake, Hunter Lake and Boot Lake. The half marathon coure is the same for runners as well as walkers, who are encouraged to sign up for the event's power walking race.

These miles of the race take runners and walkers along scenic, tree-lined roads through the forests, culminating in the home stretch of the race that takes participants through the town of Eagle River and across the bridge over the river by the same name. The finish line lies within Riverview Park on the southern side of the Eagle River, on Railroad Street. The terrain for the race is paved surfaces throughout, and includes a number of mild rolling hills.
