Event
Details
Part of a weekend-long series of events at the Mauston Pumpkin Bash
fall festival in this small southern Wisconsin town, the running events
include a half marathon, a 5K run/walk and a "Spooky Sprint" run for
kids age 12 and under. All of the races in the event start and finish
at a new location at Veterans Park near the 4H building, and
the 13.1-mile half marathon takes runners southward across the
Lemonweir River and into the forested areas around the river.
The terrain for the race is made up mostly of paved surfaces, and
includes some stretches of trail run along natural surfaces through the
woods near the Lemonweir River. It's through these stretches that the
course offers its most beautiful scenery, as the river is among the
area's most popular spots for both warm-weather and cold-weather
recreation, from fishing, canoeing, camping and horseback riding to
cross-country skiing in the winter.
