Details
Thanks in part to its location along the shores of Lake Winnebago in
eastern Wisconsin, blustery cold weather with blowing wind and even
snow are always a possibility at the springtime running of the Oshkosh
Half
Marathon & 5K, which takes runners on a tour of this city's
downtown near the shores of the lake.
With two bridge
crossings, roughly a third of the course along the waterfront and a
route that takes runners past local attractions including the ponds at
South Park,
the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and Menomonie Park & Zoo,
the race offers lots of changing scenery and neighborhoods along the
13.1-mile route.
Both the 5K and the half-marathon race start and finish at downtown
Oshkosh's Leach Amphitheater, a popular local venue for music festivals
and concerts (especially in the warm-weather months). From there, the
course follows a clockwise route through the city, taking runners
across bridges over the water at both Main Street and Wisconsin Street.
After the second bridge crossing, the second half of the course takes
runners through the university campus and along the lakeshore, through
Menomonie Park. Runners will finish the race right where they started,
to the sounds of live bands as they cross the finish line at the
amphitheater.

Weather & Climate
Springtime weather can still be quite cold in the Oshkosh area, as
April temperatures average between 35°F and 54°F. Be
prepared for rainfall, as precipitation averages nearly 3 inches during
the month.

$30 for the half marathon, if registered by February 1, 2010
$40 between Feb. 2 - April 17
$50 after April 17
