Wisconsin > Oshkosh Half Marathon, 5K, Relay & Kids' Run
Oshkosh, WI  •  Sunday, April 13, 2014  •  Course Map

Thanks in part to its location along the shores of Lake Winnebago in eastern Wisconsin, blustery cold weather with blowing wind and even snow are always a possibility at the springtime running of the Oshkosh Half Marathon & 5K, which takes runners on a tour of this city's downtown near the shores of the lake. More than 1,800 runners crossed the finish line at the race's 2013 running, including just over 1,100 runners in the half marathon alone.

With two bridge crossings, roughly a third of the course along the waterfront and a route that takes runners past local attractions including the ponds at South Park, the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and Menomonie Park & Zoo, the race offers lots of changing scenery and neighborhoods along the 13.1-mile route.

Both the 5K and the half-marathon race start and finish at downtown Oshkosh's Riverside Park, just blocks from the city's Grand Opera House and the Oshkosh Public Library. From there, the course follows what is roughly a counter-clockwise route through the city, taking runners across bridges over the water first across Wisconsin Street and then later, on the return route back to Riverside Park, across Main Street.

Race Weather & Climate

Located in the eastern part of the state, about 85 miles north of Milwaukee and roughly 170 miles north of Chicago, Ill., Oshkosh typically sees cold to mild weather in April, a month that has brought record temperatures as low as 6 degrees (in 1954) and as high as 91 degrees (in 1980).

April Avg. Day of Race Monthly Precip.
Low: 37°F Low: 36°F Rain: 2.88 in.
