Steam Train Half Marathon & Relay

Essex, Conn. • Saturday, April 23, 2022

I’m not sure there’s a more unique calling card for a race than the one offered by the Essex Steam Train Half — that when you’re out on the course, running your 13.1 miles, you’ll race an actual, live steam train that will be chugging its way toward the half-way turnaround point.

Bay Bridge Half Marathon

Oakland, Calif. • Sunday, May 1, 2022

Named one of the best international running events in the world by Let’s Do This and Runner’s World magazine, the Bay Bridge Half Marathon is notable also because it’s the only half marathon event to take runners across Oakland’s beautiful Bay Bridge, which connects the city with nearby San Francisco and is famous for its nightly LED display known as the Bay Lights.

Living Journeys Half Marathon

Crested Butte, Colo. • Saturday, July 23, 2022

A gorgeous run among the evergreen forests and alpine meadows of the mountains just above Crested Butte Mountain Resort awaits at this half marathon, which runs along the zig-zagging trails here in the southwestern Rocky Mountains and features some very high-elevation running — you’ll start the race at 9,370 feet and ascend to 11,472 feet at its highest point.

Philadelphia Distance Run Half Marathon & 5K

Philadelphia, Pa. • Sunday, September 18, 2022

First run back in 1978, the Philadelphia Distance Run has had a long history here in the “city of brotherly love,” and today it’s a 13.1-miler and 5K that features many of the city’s most iconic sights along its race route, and is considered a perfect tune-up for fall marathons later in the season — including the Philadelphia Marathon, which runs in November.
