More than 400 runners crossed the finish line at the fall 2017 running of Tucson’s Everyone Runs Half Marathon, which features a new beautiful course that starts and finishes at old Tucson, traveling through Tucson Mountain Park just west of the city. With few buildings or homes in sight, runners can feel at one with nature while still enjoying the amenities of a road course.
The half marathon course begins at 7:15 AM at Old Tucson. Runners begin the first quarter of the half marathon on a steadily uphill climb, traveling north on Kinney Road and passing the Desert Museum. Don’t let the uphill climb scare you–the next section of the course consists of coasting downhill toward the turnaround point at Sandario Road. After completing the next segment of the race back up Mile Wide Road, runners enter Tucson Mountain Park and its glory, with beautiful scenery lined with trees and cacti.
The race finishes back at Old Tucson, where there will be finisher tech shirts for everyone, an awards ceremony for half marathon & 5K for overall and five-year age groups, free breakfast and Robeks Smoothies, live music, free race photos (if available), kid’s activities and lots more. There will be on-course race support until 10:45 AM, and runners are limited to 3 hours, 30 minutes to complete the race.
The course features live music, at least eight water / Cytomax stations, energy gels, live music, cheery volunteers and great scenery. Family and friends can cheer you on as you finish in Old Tucson. Following the morning’s races (the event also includes a 5K) is a post-race festival, with refreshments and drinks for the runners and entertainment for participants and spectators alike.
