This unique event known as the Four Corners Quad Keya Marathon & Half Marathon is a four (4) day event across four states offering participants the opportunity to complete a run on any or all of the four days from December 5th-8th. This page is dedicated to day one, starting and finishing in Arizona.
Located within Apache County, the longest county in the United States, runners can expect to enjoy incredible Arizonan scenery and rich and breathtaking landscapes of canyons throughout.
Because this race takes place in Apache County during the winter, however, participants can expect frigid temperatures averaging 45°F (7°C) throughout the morning and early afternoon.
Staged at the Four Corners Monument near Teec Nos Pas, Arizona, this course offers two route options that are subject to change: a 5.25-mile looping trail course, or a 1-mile looping paved path.
Because of the nature of each course, there will be no aid stations set up, but rather an opportunity for all runners to regroup at “base camp” upon finishing each loop.
There is no course time limit throughout this event series, so runners can focus simply on finishing; this is especially important to know if you plan on racing all four days consecutively.
As for the hardware, all finishers will be awarded a unique finisher’s medal, event swag comprising a long-sleeve performance t-shirt, beanie/trucker cap, winter gear kit, event poster, mug, koozie, and towel.
Finally, for the celebration, expect to be provided with live entertainment inclusive of famous Blues musicians, Country bands, and famed drummers.
Race Weather & Climate
Apache County is located in the northeastern part of Arizona, bordering New Mexico. The nearest major city is Flagstaff, about 200 miles to the west, offering a unique blend of high desert beauty and cultural richness.
In early December, Apache County sees winter settling in. Daytime temperatures average around 45°F (7°C), while nighttime lows drop to about 16°F (-9°C). Snowfall becomes more common.
On race day (December 5), the average low is 44ºF and the average high is 61ºF.
