Holly Jolly Half Marathon, 10K & 5K

What better way is there to wrap up the year than racing a half marathon in California? The Holly Jolly Half Marathon is just one of the three distances offered in late December in Camarillo, which also includes a 5K or 10K as well as the 13.1 mile race.

Following an out and back course twice, runners will make their way through northern Camarillo, run almost entirely on the Camarillo Bike path. Runners begin the race at Village at the Park soccer fields.

The course first takes runners east onto the Camarillo Bike path, where they will continue to run on until they reach Upland road just past the 3 mile mark. Here they will turn around and head along the same path back towards the starting line. Crossing the Ventura Freeway, runners hit their second turnaround just before reaching Pleasant Valley Road.

Following the same route back along the bike path, runners will take a left at the 6 mile mark, and head back towards the Village at the Park Sports Complex and starting line. After completing their first lap, they will turn around at a “Loop Two” sign and head back out on the same course for a second out and back. At the end of the second run through, runners will cross through a blue finish shoot to complete the race.

Prizes will be awarded for the best holiday costumes so don’t be shy in your apparel choice. All finishers will receive a medal upon completion of the race. Overall awards will be given to the top 3 male and females and age group awards go 3 deep as well.

Race Weather & Climate

Camarillo has a warm-summer Mediterranean climate with mild winters. Average December temperatures promise to be nearly perfect for running. The average high on race day (Dec. 17) is 64°F and the average low is 47°. The mean temperature on race day is 53°F. Only 2.05 inches of rain falls on average in December.
