Run Rocklin Half Marathon, 12K & 5K

Nestled north of California’s capital of Sacramento, the former mining town of Rocklin plays host to the Run Rocklin Half Marathon, 12K & 5K, which takes place in the early spring each year.

The race starts and finishes at Johnson-Springview Regional Park just outside the business district of Rocklin. From there, runners run south before turning left onto Sunset Boulevard and right on Whitney Boulevard, running alongside the edges of the park.

The race continues north on Whitney Boulevard for a little over a mile before the roads ends and the half marathon continues right onto Crest Drive and the outskirts of Rocklin, leading runners along the hilliest part of the course.

After the first turnaround near mile 4.5, runners retrace their paths downhill for nearly three miles, then turn left onto Midas Avenue and run alongside the Rocklin Golf Club, then continue onto Rawhide Road until the second turnaround just before mile 9.

The last third of the half marathon leads runners through all new territory in the more residential parts of Rocklin before returning to the start/finish line at Johnson-Springview Regional Park.

Organizers note that strollers and baby joggers are welcome on the course, and the course time limit is four hours. The half marathon is limited to 400 participants, so register early.

Located about 20 miles northeast of Sacramento in northern California, Rocklin experiences mild to occasionally warm weather and light precipitation in April, with temperatures typically ranging from the high 40s to the high 70s.
