Saturday, June 15, 2019 • Santa Clarita, CA • Course Map
Celebrate Father’s Day weekend with a run that’s almost entirely flat and fast, and features some of Santa Clarita’s most scenic views at this race, which runs along the Santa Clarita River and crosses over it a few times during the race.
The start and finish line for the half marathon race is located at the Iron Horse Trailhead. From there, runners will head east, passing under McBean Parkway to Valencia Blvd. They will then follow that pathway, making a sharp turn onto Bouquet Canyon and crossing over the Santa Clara River for the first time.
Just past the #2 aid station, runners will encounter some moderate elevation change as they make their way to the #3 aid station. Continuing on the north side of the river, runners will make their way towards Golden Valley road until the path ends. There, runners hit the second turnaround point and head back along the same path, with the river now on their left.
The course then takes runners a second time underneath Bouquet Canyon, following the path that goes behind Lowes and towards Bridgeport Park. Runners will enjoy the flat path as they continue to make their way north to Avenue Scott, where they will make their final turnaround, crossing McBean Parkway over the river and back to the finish line at the Iron Horse Trailhead.
Runners in the half marathon will enjoy a total of 7 aid stations along the course, with approximately 2 miles between each station. The elevation gain throughout the race varies from around 20 feet to 100 feet. Whether you are running the half marathon, 10K or 5K course, they are all relatively flat.
Runners will have 1 hour to finish the 5K, 3 hours to complete the 10K and runners in the half marathon will need run a 23 minute per mile pace to complete the race within the 5 hour cutoff time.
