Saturday, September 28, 2019 • Colorado Springs, CO • Course Map
Take a high-altitude run through the streets of this more-than-a-mile-high city about an hour’s drive south from Denver at the Colorado Springs Marathon, which unfolds here along the foot of the Rocky Mountains and features stretches along creekside trails as well as downtown city streets here in the home of the U.S. Air Force Academy.
Runners will start the out-and-back course for the race next to Acacia Park, a small city park in the heart of downtown. From there, the course heads east along East Platte Avenue, and then runs past the Olympic Training Center on Boulder Street before turning south and heading into Memorial Park.
You’ll run all the way around Prospect Lake before heading west again, back along East Platte Avenue toward Acacia Park. The course will next run through downtown, with a couple of twists and turns, before heading out to Colorado Avenue and crossing over Monument Creek.
The next stretch features some of the most scenic of the race, as you’ll make your way along the Pikes Peak Greenway Trail, a 15-ft.-wide paved and gravel trail that runs alongside Monument Creek. You’ll stay on the trail for the next two miles as you make your way through Monument Valley Park, and then head back onto the city streets.
The final stretch of the race brings runners south along Cascade Avenue for about two miles, before turning in to cross the finish line next to Acacia Park again.
Runners will have 6 1/2 hours to complete the half marathon, and the half marathon awards ceremony is set to begin at 9:30 AM.
