The Golden Lights Half Marathon is a unique event that has taken place annually for two years now and is one of the must-run races of the year.
Greenwich, CT, is renowned for its stunning views and picturesque sights, and the Golden Lights Half Marathon course is no exception. It winds its way through upscale neighborhoods and along the tranquil harbors of Old Greenwich and Riverside. Runners will be able to enjoy this beautiful coastal town’s natural beauty, making the experience even more memorable.
Starting and finishing at the beautiful Greenwich Point (Tod’s Point) Park, runners will begin their journey at 8:30 am. The park is an ideal location, as it provides an excellent view of the Long Island Sound and Greenwich’s beautifully maintained harbors. The course comprises mostly flat terrain, with a few inclines and declines to add some excitement to the half marathon.
Throughout the run, participants will pass by many notable locations, such as the Riverside Yacht Club and the Old Greenwich Yacht Club. They’ll also get a chance to see the charming neighborhoods that make Greenwich such a delightful place to live in.
The Golden Lights Half Marathon isn’t just about the scenic route, though; it’s also an opportunity to support the Golden Lights Foundation’s pediatric cancer research initiative. The Golden Lights Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that funds this initiative using a targeted, project and doctor-centric approach. 100% of your registration fees (not including registration fees) will go directly to support the Foundation’s work.
To add even more fun to this half-marathon experience, there will be a post-race party at the Greenwich Point (Tod’s Point) Park. Participants will be able to enjoy the great music, food, and drinks while celebrating their accomplishments.
The Golden Lights Half Marathon is a certified USATF course and is an excellent training or qualifying opportunity for the NYC Marathon. Sign up, complete the half-marathon, and support an essential cause – it’s a win-win situation.
