The Hillacious Half has been held for the past seven years, and it’s become a staple race for anyone looking for a challenge while also supporting a great cause. This race is truly a no-frills, bare-bones event designed to represent the grit and determination of our military while at the same time honoring their sacrifices.
The half-marathon course winds through the beautiful town of Litchfield, offering stunning views of the surrounding hills and countryside. This old New England town is known for its quaint charm and historic landmarks, including the Litchfield Green, the oldest publicly funded town green in the United States.
The starting location for the race is at the Morgan-Weir American Legion Post 27, which adds an extra level of meaning and symbolism to the event. The race begins at 10:00 AM and has a strict 3-hour time limit, so participants must pace themselves accordingly.
The course itself is a challenging one, with hill climbs and steep descents scattered throughout. You’ll start off by heading south on Bantam Road. The course takes you through some of the most scenic parts of the town, including the pastoral Litchfield Community Center and the beautiful Litchfield Hills.
You’ll make your way back to the Morgan-Weir American Legion Post 27 in this out-and-back course, where you’ll cross the finish line and have the satisfaction of knowing you completed a tough, challenging course for a great cause.
