SoNo Half Marathon & 5K

Sunday, October 1, 2023 • Norwalk, CT • Course Map

Run just as the weather is starting to turn cooler and the leaves are changing here in this southwestern Connecticut town, the SoNo Half Marathon — named for the South Norwalk neighborhood through which it’s run — offers the chance to run past some beautiful scenery in this classic waterfront town.

Now in its 8th year, the race become a must-run in Connecticut, organizers say, thanks to its unique scenic course through many of Norwalk’s most notable attractions — this race sells out each year, they add.

Start at Veteran’s Park. Runners will start the race at Veterans Park, and from there head west along Washington Street before running past the South Norwalk train station and heading south on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Drive.

Runners continue south until this road ends and turn right at the fork onto Wilson Avenue. This portion of the course takes runners along residential tree-lined neighborhoods while continuing north along Highland Avenue.

Runners turn right onto Soundview Avenue near mile 4.5 and continue east along Soundview Avenue and Flax Hill Road before turning right onto Washington Street briefly and heading north.

Run past the Maritime Aquarium. This section of the course marks the beginning of the half marathon’s second half, and the course leads runners past the Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk and through Oyster Shell Park and Mathews Park before crossing the river and heading south along East Avenue.

After passing the East Norwalk train station, runners keep going south toward Taylor Farm Park, running through Shady Beach Park and taking in the beach views before heading toward the finish line at Veteran’s Park.

With a post-race party beginning 30 minutes after the half marathon’s start, the party is sure to be in full swing when many of the half marathoners cross the finish line.
