Saturday, August 31, 2024 • St. Charles, MO • Course Map
Hosted by the St. Louis Track Club each fall, the Corps of Discovery Half Marathon and 5 Mile Trail Race is held each year on trails within the nearly 8,400-acre Weldon Spring Conservation Area.
Half marathoners will tackle both the Lewis loop (8 miles) and the Clark loop (5 miles) within the park, with 5-mile runners taking on just the latter trail.
The Lewis and Clark trails trace the bluffs along the Missouri River and challenge participants with hills as they traverse the course’s ridges and hollows.
Runners should note that both paths share the same trailhead, with the Clark trail bisecting the longer 8-mile Lewis trail. Volunteers will be stationed at the intersections between the trails to direct runners to the correct loop based on their distance.
While the Lewis and Clark trails are free from vehicular traffic, the race course is not closed to other pedestrians and hikers.
Race Weather & Climate
As summer makes a slow turn toward fall, September weather in Saint Charles is still warm, with average temperatures ranging from 55°F to 75°F. Be prepared, too, for high humidity and the potential for rain.
