Runners follow an out-and-back course for the half marathon that takes them east from the beaches of Santa Cruz County all the way east toward the nearby city of Capitola, where runners make the turnaround loop just before reaching Esplanade Park. From there, they head all the way back along East Cliff and Opal Cliff Drive back to Santa Cruz, with views of the Pacific Ocean nearly the entire route, for the race finish on the beach.
Note: The course map above provides the approximate route for the race. Though every effort has been made to ensure its accuracy, changes are sometimes made to race routes due to weather conditions, road closures or other circumstances that can require a course to be changed.
