Runners in the half marathon follow an out-and-back course that starts and finishes along Main Street in downtown Louisville, near the city’s Louisville Slugger Park. From there, runners follow a counter-clockwise loop through the city, with stretches through Central Park, the campuses of Spalding University and the University of Louisville, and the highlight of the race — the section that takes runners into Churchill Downs. Later in the race, you’ll run a long stretch up 3rd Street before turning back onto Main Street, and in to the finish line at Lynn Family Stadium.

The mini would be more appealing if planners included Cherokee or Iroquois Park. All city street running is way less uplifting.
