Runners are set to cross the starting line at the Mount Desert Island Half Marathon along the island’s northeast harbor, from which they’ll set out on a run along the only true fjord anywhere on the Atlantic coast. Once they make it around to the second half of the route, the race features a gradual ascent before giving way to a fully downhill last mile in to the finish line at Southwest Harbor.
Note: The course map above provides the approximate route for the race. Though every effort has been made to ensure its accuracy, changes are sometimes made to race routes due to weather conditions, road closures or other circumstances that can require a course to be changed.
