Runners follow a largely fast and flat course on a combination of paved surfaces and gravel and packed dirt trails at the New Paltz Challenge, along portions of the former railroad corridor now known as the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail, which stretches from Gardiner all the way north through New Paltz to Rosendale, N.Y. The race starts near the corner of Main Street and Huguenot Street, and runners cross the finish line near where they started, next to the Gilded Otter Brewing Company on Main Street.
Note: The course map above provides the approximate route for the race.
