Course Map: Pikes Peak Ascent Half Marathon

Runners start the Pikes Peak Ascent at an elevation of about 6,300 feet above sea level in Manitou Springs, Colo., in front of City Hall. By the time they’ve reached the summit of Pikes Peak, they’ll have climbed more than 7,800 feet, as the summit lies at just over 14,000 feet! Organizers say to plan for as much time running this half marathon as you’d run a full marathon anywhere else, as there are few stretches of the course that aren’t uphill. The trail is narrow and winding, and rocky in many places, but there are no exposed ledges, organizers add.
