Runners in San Francisco’s summertime Half Marathons have a choice not found at most other races — there are actually two 13.1-mile races to choose from. The course for the first half marathon starts on the waterfront downtown, at Embarcadero and Mission Street, and takes runners on a point-to-point course that follows a mostly westward route along the waterfront through the city. The second half picks up quite literally where the first half leaves off, starting runners off in Golden Gate Park and taking them on an eastward route back to the Embarcadero.

Note: The course maps above provide the approximate route for each race. Though every effort has been made to ensure their accuracy, changes are sometimes made to race routes due to weather conditions, road closures or other circumstances that can require a course to be changed.
