Runners follow a course known to locals as “inside the loop” at the Irvine Half Marathon (formerly known as the Southern California Half Marathon & 5K), which serves as an official warm-up road race for other California races like the Los Angeles Marathon, the O.C. Marathon and the Surf City Marathon later in the year. The 13.1-mile route begins at the Woodbridge Village Shopping Center on Barranca Parkway and Lake Road and follows a loop course that winds along the Irvine bike trail system and the San Diego Creek. The course features one large hill toward the midpoint of the race but is otherwise mostly flat with occasional rolling hills.
Note: The course map above provides the approximate route for the race. Though every effort has been made to ensure its accuracy, changes are sometimes made to race routes due to weather conditions, road closures or other circumstances that can require a course to be changed.
