Runners start the loop course for the Chico Running Club’s Almond Bowl Half Marathon in Lower Bidwell Park, and from there head out on the Petersen Memorial Highway through the park and into Upper Bidwell Park. The race climbs roughly 140 feet in elevation between the starting line and the half-way point, so runners can expect a very gradual climb. After that, they’ll follow largely the same route in reverse, except in the final few miles, when they’ll run along South Park Drive toward the finish line.
