For runners at the late October Ashland Half Marathon, the starting and finish line area is a part of running history, as it marks the original starting line for the legendary Boston Marathon. From the start in Marathon Park on Pleasant Street in Ashland, the course makes a loop along a combination of rural roads and residential neighborhoods just outside Boston, including a stretch around Hopkinton State Park and its reservoir.
