Runners follow a gradual, downhill point-to-point route at the Autumn Color Run Half Marathon, which starts west of the town near Cottonwood Lake and finishes in Buena Vista’s McPhelemy Park. Along the way, the course features mostly dirt roads and forest service roads (for roughly the first 9 miles) and then paved roads for the last few miles of the race, once runners reach County Road 306, which becomes Main Street as it leads into town.
