Runners will get views of both the water of Birch Bay and Drayton Harbor as well as the mountains off in the distance across the Canadian border at the Birch Bay Half Marathon, which shares much of the same course as the full marathon and features mostly flat terrain in the first few and last few miles of the race. The two main hilly stretches are the short, steep hill around the third mile along Harborview Road and a bigger hill just past the mid-point of the half marathon, along Semiahmoo Parkway.
