Runners start the point-to-point route for the half marathon near downtown Waterville Valley along Route 49. From there, they head south and west along the rolling country roads near this resort town in northern New Hampshire, which is surrounded on all sides by the vast expanse of the White Mountain National Forest. After they hit the turnaround point between miles 7 and 8, they’ll run back into town and cross the finish line along 49, next to Cochran Pond.
