Runners start the out-and-back course for the Charlottesville Half Marathon in the city’s downtown, along East Main Street next to City Hall and the Virginia Discovery Museum. From there, the race heads east through the Sprint Pavilion toward the Rivanna River, where you’ll run most of your miles, especially in the middle portions of the race. This is a hilly course, organizers note, with “views of the river, historic churches and homes and of the Blue Ridge Mountains and Monticello.”
