Runners start the out-and-back course for the Chessie Trail Half Marathon at Lexington’s McKethan Park, which lies along the winding Maury River and runs under Interstate 81. From there, the mostly flat and unpaved route first heads east and south to the first turnaround point near the mile 4 marker, and then runners retrace their steps all the way back to the starting line. From there, they’ll run west and north to the second turnaround point, where the Chessie Trail meets Northwest Main Street in East Lexington, and then head back to McKethan Park for the race finish.
