Runners start the out-and-back course for the half marathon in Chicago’s Montrose Beach, which overlooks the waters of Lake Michigan just off Lake Shore Drive. From there, this mostly fast and flat paved route on the running and walking trails within the park takes runners all the way south to North Avenue Beach and the Lincoln Park Zoo before bringing them back to Montrose Beach for the race finish.
