It’s “one of the fastest half marathons you’ll set foot on,” organizers at Utah’s Beaver Canyon Half say, and with good reason: the elevation at the starting line is just over 8,000 feet above sea level in the Tushar Mountains just east of Beaver, and from there the half marathon route follows the highway down through the canyon for the next 11 1/2 miles, dropping some 2,000 feet along the way, all the way to the finish line at Pioneer Park.
