Runners follow an out-and-back course at the Denver Trail Half Marathon, which starts and finishes at Cherry Creek State Park near Hobie Hill. From there, the race heads south onto the Cherry Creek Trail, then heads east on the Pope Trail and Butterfly Hill Trail before reaching the first turnaround on the Cottonwood Creek Trail. Runners continue east along the Windmill Creek Loop Trail, Railroad Bed Trail, and 12 Mile Trail before reaching the second turnaround and repeating their steps toward the finish line.
