Runners follow a point-to-point course along North Carolina’s Outer Banks at the Flying Pirate Half Marathon, which unfolds between the small coastal towns of Kitty Hawk and Nags Head. Nearly all of the course is fast and flat, and long stretches take runners along the shorelines of Kitty Hawk Bay and Collington Creek, as well as onto the historic airfield where the Wright Brothers Memorial now stands. The race finish line lies at the YMCA in Nags Head.
