Filled with rolling hills and views of the mighty Mississippi River as runners are heading toward the finish line, the all-new Galena Lead Rush Half Marathon makes its fourth annual running on the state’s road race calendar in November of 2014, along a route that starts near the ski slopes of the Chestnut Mountain Resort, which is spread across some 220 acres along the river in northwestern Illinois. From there, runners make a roughly figure-eight-shaped loop and finish the race along the banks of the Mississippi River.
